Empowering Futures Through Lifelong Learning: Creative Excellence for Raikan Ilmu @ Heartlands

Our recent collaboration with Yayasan MENDAKI, a pioneering self-help group for the Muslim/Malay community in Singapore, for their Raikan Ilmu @ Heartlands campaign, is a testament to our commitment to excellence. The client’s objective for Raikan Ilmu @ Heartlands was to bring the community together to celebrate knowledge and learning with exciting hands-on activities for every segment of the community from preschoolers, children, youth to adults. Here’s how we brought this vibrant initiative to life through our innovative design and strategic execution.

 

Crafting a Visual Identity: Key Visuals and Beyond

Our task was to create key visuals and a suite of digital and print materials that would not only attract attention but also convey the essence of lifelong learning and community engagement. Here’s a closer look at our approach:

We chose a bright and cheerful colour palette featuring blues, yellows, greens, and oranges. These vibrant colours not only aim to capture the attention of the audience, but also to create an energetic atmosphere, perfectly aligning with the themes of innovation and excitement that Raikan Ilmu represents.

Using an isometric perspective, we added depth and dimension to the visuals in order to differentiate from other event ads and engage the target audience by triggering visual curiosity. This technique effectively organised various elements, guiding the viewer's eye through the different activities and information presented in the posters and banners. 

Incorporating basic 3D shapes such as cubes, spheres, and cylinders, we added a playful and dynamic quality to the design. These shapes represent different activities and concepts, making the information more visually engaging and digestible.

Our illustrations depicted people engaging in a variety of activities, creating a sense of community and participation. These visuals are relatable and inviting, encouraging the target audience to envision themselves at the event. Our rationale is that by merging infographics within the theme it provides a mental shortcut of what the event might look like, creating visitors' anticipation of the event at one glance.

 

Extending the Campaign Across Multiple Platforms

To ensure maximum reach and engagement, we extended our design approach across various platforms:

- Website Banners: We designed vibrant banners for MENDAKI’s website to capture immediate attention and inform visitors about the event.

- Instagram Posts and Stories Templates: Eye-catching templates for social media to generate buzz and engagement among followers.

- Instagram Stickers: Fun and interactive stickers for Instagram Stories to encourage community participation and sharing.These stickers allow participants to share more about their experiences with the event, generating relatability.

- Lift Display Ads: Strategic placements in residential areas to maximise visibility and reach within the community. QR codes were added with a 4s interval so that audiences have an opportunity to find out more about the event.

- Print Ads: Colourful and informative print ads to reach those who prefer traditional media. This is so that audiences who do not consume digital media still have a chance to know about Raikan Ilmu.

- Real life banners and Posters: Banners and posters (both digital and physical) were designed with the key events in mind so that a wider audience is aware of the gist of the events. Location specific posters were made so that the audience knows the nearest event locations that they can participate in.

- Digital Ads: Targeted digital ads to capture a wider online audience, targeting the younger generation who are more likely to consume digital media.

- eDMs: Engaging email newsletters to keep MENDAKI’s subscribers informed and excited about the upcoming events. We integrated QR codes into the eDM so that it is easier for the audience to enter the website due to limitations with the adding a link.

 

Conclusion

Our collaboration with Yayasan MENDAKI for Raikan Ilmu @ Heartlands was a dynamic and fulfilling project that showcased our ability to create compelling and engaging visual communications. By understanding our client's needs and translating them into vibrant, informative, and accessible designs, we successfully contributed to MENDAKI's mission of fostering lifelong learning within the Malay/Muslim community.
